Oh man I thought I would have exclusive gloating rights on this one. Anyway nice one!

I hear the next VM upgrade will be to 200Mb/s and it'll probably be quite soon since BT is hot on their heels with upto 200Mb/s and in some cases 300Mb/s  :surprise:

As Salaam Mualaykum,

If your pings were lower, you'd have a much better reading.

Ping determines the quality of the line.

A high ping suggests that there is a lot of disturbance in the line, whether this be to damaged cabling, attenuation, interference etc.

This is something that needs to be sorted out by your ISP, there's not a lot you can do about that unfortunately.

Hope that explanation helped someone, Insha'Allah.

Wa Salaam Mualaykum,

Ozzy

Oh now I get it why I pay for the 1M and get lower speed than those who have 512k! Thanks for the explanation Ozzy ^_^

I wonder if the ISP guys will understand ping if I try to complain

Eve, did you see the prices for a better internet.. they're insane +10000DA/month :o

As Salaam Mualaykum,

No problem, glad that it helped.

Sometimes the ISP may blame it on a possible firewall that you may have set up.

Disable your firewall just in case to check (if you have one), then run the test again.

You could also try using a direct connection to your router, rather than using a wireless connection.

But like I said before, a majority of the time it is probably with the line (your ISP) or your distance from the server that you're contacting.

Hence why you find that others will have a better connection than yours, even if they don't have as much bandwidth.

Wa Salaam Mualaykum,

Ozzy

No, I didn't :o That robot lady keeps calling about it I guess, but I always hang up, maybe I should've listened. :P

Over 10,000DA! WOW

Do they expect people to be able to pay that amount? Every month!?

I heard they were upgrading to fiber optics, is that what this is about?

Hahaha that robot lady calls to tell you that your internet subscription is nearing its end and reminds you to go and pay.

I actually read about the insane prices here in some thread, here's a link  and there's this other company I never heard of Link they got even crazier prices!

Fiber what? All I know is that they're getting us the 3G.. Yaaaaaaaaay
