24 April 1958
Taleb Abderrahmane was born on the 3rd of March 1930 in La Casbah. He studied in Soustara where he finished his primary education then his secondary education in Lycee Okba with brilliant results. He spoke German fluently.
He was so brilliant that the French government granted him a scholarship but he refused it. He joined the faculty of Chemistry in Algiers instead.
On May 19th, 1956 Taleb Abderrahmane took part in the students strike and then joined the revolution.
He first joined the moudjahidine in Azeffoun (Tizi-Ouzou, Wilaya III) where he started manufacturing bombs to be used by the ALN. Then he moved back to Algiers.
His laboratory was installed in La Villa des Roses in El Biar and together with Rachid Kaouache he manufactured many bombs for the Algiers fighters. He also taught the technique to other ALN members such as Yacef Saadi.
But the Villa accidentally exploded on the 11th of October 1956 and Rachid Kraouache got killed.
This explosion uncovered the laboratory and the French authorities started searching for Abderrahmane Taleb whom they suspected because he had been absent from university and was studying chemistry.
So he decided to move to Chrea where he resumed his activity (bombs manufacturing). In Blida he met Yacef Saadi again and they talked about restarting a new battle of Algiers. Unfortunately, the French police captured him on June 5th, 1957.
After having interrogated and tortured him, the French condemned Taleb Abderahmane to a death sentence. They killed him on 24th April 1958.
