Okay guys let me introduce you the Algerian Muaythay fighter Dida Diafat. He is a professional muay thai fighter and a true champion of the world. Just to let you know this is a sport created in Thailand and it may look like kickboxing but in reality it's something else. It includes fighting with elbows and knees, and when you kick you use your hips which make the kick more powerful. Sad enough this sport is not official because of the so called violence.

This is the information you will find about him on the internet:

At the age of 18, Dida Diafat left the town of Villiers le Bel (Val d'Oise) tojoin the Muay Thai training camps of Thailand and became 3 years later thefirst Frenchman to be a Muay Thai world champion and of Kickboxing.

Well those words are true but nothing compared to the long version of his life. He had many difficulties in Thailand because he went there with literally nothing, only a bag with some close and a meager sum of money. Before he went to Thailand he was a troublesome boy. Only his mother raised him (his father died)who made a living by cleaning houses. He came in contact with crime and was send to jail for a year (don't know exact how long). There he made contact with muay thai because he shared his cell with a thaiboxing coach. Now I can't tell more about it because I'm not good at storytelling :P but he made a movie about his life called 'Chock Dee' and you should really check it out if you want to know more.

Dida vs Ramon Dekkers

In this fight there is a moment when Dida elbows Dekker on the head and then it kinda looks like Dekkers is trying to escape while Dida is running after him hahaha..., that elbow was really hard and made Dekkers bleed on the head. Posted Image

You can find many other video fights of Dida on youtube.

short reportage:

Anyway, the life and achievements of this champion is truly fascinating. I came to know about this guy when I was having a chat with a friend in the gym whereI train. We were talking about the famous Dutch muay thai champion 'RamonDekkers', if you look at the history of muay thay you will find out that Holland had one of the most toughest champions ever and even nowadays the Dutch are still dominating this sport. So we were having a talk about how good he is and stuff and then he told me…'heyy did you know that Dekkers had his butt beaten by a Frenchman?' I was like no I don't and asked him if he could tell me more about it. He said that he didn't know much about this French man but he knew that he beat Ramon Dekkers twice. I reacted like: Twice?! No that couldn't be…

So at home I did some research and discovered that the 'french'man was called Dida Diafat and that he was Algerian…I was really impressed and amazed about his career.

It really bothers me that this man didn't get the fame he should have had, but yeah I bet we all know why…

Dida is one of the most famous fighters in France and in Europe. He was the first to be sponsored by Canal+ and they eventually did a movie on his life. He has even been recognized in Algeria and goes back pretty often to do events with the Algerian Muay Thai organization. By the way, his son plays in the junior ranks of PSG ... so maybe he'll playing for Algeria in the future.

Other famous Algerian fighters from France:

Farid Khider (was in the Asterix movie)
Morad Sari (he's from my village in Algeria)
Sofiane Allouache
Samir Berbachi (and his brother Rani)

Not all of them fight Muay Thai, they do different styles
